~ Reasons to Legalize ~

It doesn't hurt you. Prohibition has clogged our prisons with nonviolent people who've done nothing wrong. The reasons it was illegalized in the first place were purely political. The lumber industry--back then, its power was equivalent to the oil industry today--lobbied heavily for marijuana prohibition, because hemp is a much better and more economical source of paper products. Also, marijuana was billed as the drug that made "fine, upstanding, white women" sleep with "blacks and hispanics"; alcohol was a high society drug (no-pun intended), while marijuana was for "low-lifes" (i.e. minorities). If alcohol and cigarettes are legal, then having marijuana illegal makes a complete mockery of our law system.
