~ Corporate Drug Testing ~
~ Petition ~
The Legalize Corporate Drug Testing Petition allows our members and visitors to speak out directly to corporations that maintain unconstitutional employment policies. Corporate drug testing is a violation of our God-given, Constitutionally protected right to privacy. Although the vast majority of Americans oppose drug testing, they are afraid to speak out against it, and with good reason -- it could jeopardize their jobs and careers.
Legalize is ending the silence by targeting specific corporations, collecting letters protesting their drug testing policy, and then presenting these opinions en masse to their corporate policy departments. For too long executives responsible for these immoral, un-American policies have had no accountability for their actions. No longer -- now they will be exposed and shamed.
Legalize has chosen Chase Manhattan Corporation to be our first target. Chase represents the large finanical institutions that universally drug test. Chase also sponsors the Corporate Challenge race: we believe the real corporate challenge is finding a banking job that doesn't drug test.

Corporate Drug Testing is a violation of our God-given, Constitutionally protected Rights. Our right to privacy - guaranteed by the Fourth Amendment - is unalienable, meaning it cannot be sold or given away. Employers cannot "buy" your privacy rights with a paycheck any more than they can buy your vote. You do not surrender your American citizenship by accepting a job.
Even worse, these corporations practice Employment Discrimination. These businesses maintain an official corporate policy of not employing pot smokers; this is the definition of employment discrimination. Companies may argue that pot smokers are so abhorrent that they deserve what they get, but cannot deny that their policy is discrimination, plain and simple.
Pot Smokers are your fellow Americans. There are over 20 million pot smokers, all productive, patriotic Americans. We are more numerous than nearly all other minority groups, including Jewish, Asian, and gay and lesbian Americans. Our nation was founded on the principle that we are all equal, regardless of our heritage or lifestyle. The argument that marijuana is illegal so users are criminals, not a repressed minority, is not valid; witness the laws against homosexuality and interracial marriage that remain to this day on the books in many states.
Corporate Drug Testing keeps Pot Smokers in the closet. If these opinions are new to you, don't be surprised. The purpose behind corporate drug testing is not to catch pot smokers, but to silence them. Medical marijuana, recreational marijuana, and industrial hemp directly threaten the profits of many of these corporations. Pot smokers are the natural constituency to raise these issues, so must be intimidated and kept quiet.
